Lately at garage sales I've found lots of great wooden frames. I am really into painting and distressing things right now. What better way to practice then on frames. One day I dream of painting my cabinets and distressing (like Kelly's) .... but until then I will practice on frames.
Here is my finished product, a nice antiqued frame featuring me and my hubby.
Before a plain brown wooden frame.
How did I do it? Let me share:
- Wiped clean
- Primed with primer spray paint
- Spray painted cream
- Wiped on stain and then rubbed it off.
- Done!
Check your closets you might have some frames you could paint too!

Very pretty! Thanks for the idea.
Wow, that's looks really good and easy too. I'm going to have to try it.
Love it. What a great frame you found. It's been slim pickins' at
"my" thrift store lately, maybe that's because I bought them all?
I love it! I'm totally into the spray painting thing, but I haven't tried antiquing with the stain. It looks fabulous, so I'll be copying your idea. Thanks!
Thanks a GREAT idea! Thanks for the tip!
Looks great! I will have to remember that this summer...when I have some down time! I have some wood frames just screamin' to be revamped!
Great tip. I have been wanting to do something similar to a hand me down chest.
I have those brown ugly frames. They were in style once but now look so dated. I am going to spray paint them today and that should make a big difference in my hallway. Thanks for sharing.
