Computer Virus

My computer has completely broke down. Somehow it got a nasty virus and it's all locked up. I am getting it repaired in the meantime I will not be able to blog.

I am enjoying a day back in the office, it's been 6 years since I quit working to be a stay at home mom. I am helping my husband at his office today. It's a little vacation, now isn't that a funny irony.

Heart Break

I said I wouldn't do personal posts but I had to share something. I needed to express some emotions. Yes, being pregnant brings out more....

My oldest daughter experienced heart break for the first time. No, it wasn't a boy, thank you Lord! It was the heartbreak of not making a team at school. We thought for sure she would make it. Lots of preparation and excitement, all ending in let down today.

When she came out to the car today she was holding strong then broke down in the car. My heart absolutely broke for her. You see I never wanted my kids to experience this type of let down and hurt. I put them in extra lessons and go overboard to prevent them from hurt. Sometimes it doesn't work, and as a parent it rips my heart out. It took all of me to not call the school and talk to the teacher. But, I am NOT going to be one of those parents... although it's very tempting. I also found myself getting mad about the other girls who made it. In my mind not nearly as talented as my daughter, yes I know I am biased.

We've had some discussions today and I've shared times growing up when I didn't make a team or was let down. We took her to get a hair cut, nails done then to indulge on some cheese fries. I just wanted to make it better and take away her pain.

As a mom of 4 kids heart break and pain is unavoidable. This will not be the last time one of the kids doesn't make a team. They can't always be the best at every activity. I've just got to put my mom jeans on (the cute ones) and love them and tell them how wonderful and loved they are.

Fellow moms of teenagers or adults, any words of wisdom for this rookie?

Teacher Appreciation Gifts

Last week was teacher appreciation at my son's school. I've had the privilege of being a co-room rep this year.
We did a class project for the teacher. I bravely ventured to the school and took over her class for about 30 minutes to complete the project.
I got a wooden platter at Hobby Lobby and painted it a cream color. Then got each of the kids finger prints with black paint. I got home and turned their little finger prints into bumble bee's. Then painted a quote on the plate.
We also made a class book. Sorry no photos. To keep the kids occupied while I did the finger prints I had them each write a sentence about what they like most about the teacher and to draw a picture of them and her. It turned out so cute! I then had it bound.
Our PTA had a theme week so we brought an item each day with the theme. Here is what we did:
Monday: Wake Up Teachers - Bring Gum
Tuesday: Chocolate Theme- bring candy
Wednesday: Cinco De Mayo - bring favorite Mexican recipe
Thursday: Flower Day - bring flowers
Friday: Thank you Day - bring a homemade card
It was a great week!

Spray Paint Magic

I just love spray paint! You can make old things new again.
Check out my latest garage sale find.... wicker patio furniture. It's originally from pier one. Little Miss lounging. I got the cushions at Garden Ridge.
I picked up the set for $30! It just took 8 can's of black spray paint but it's like new!

It's come along way from old and worn out.
Now I am on the lookout for outdoor accessories and a coffee table.

Mothers Love

Today I reflect on my children and what it means to be a mother.

What a special blessing they are. Each of them special in their own way. They bring me such joy. Nothing is better than waking up in the morning to their sweet little faces.

It's true time flys by. I didn't realize that until I had children. They help make married life complete.

To my children THANK YOU for filling my heart!

To my mother, Thank you for your unfailing and unconditional love! I love you very much. God chose you to be my mother and I thank God he placed me in your loving arms.

Happy Mothers Day to all Mothers!

Potty Progress

Here's a picture to go with my potty training talk. This is her saying "I need to go potty".
Mothers appreciate this.
We made a big break yesterday in our quest to potty train. She actually told me she needed to go and went!! She's learned to hold it and go when she needs to. Not all over the place at any time.

Thank you all for your tips! Here is what I did:

  • She loves fruit roll ups so she gets a pinch off one when she goes potty. Love's that!

  • We bought new princess panties. She picked them out. Did you know on Tuesday I went through 10 pairs?

  • I told her she's going to be 3 and that's when their are no more pull-ups or diapers.

  • When we leave the house I put her panties under her pull-up so she can feel if she wets better. It works better.

  • We take a potty time break every 30 minutes.

  • When she goes on the potty we make lots of noise and celebrate. It's a big deal we shout around the house.

Next week we will venture out with no pull-ups......

Potty Training Round 3, HELP!!

OK Moms, I need your help. I've successfully potty trained 2 children but the 3rd is having a very difficult time. She simply doesn't want to go in the potty. She will go around the house with no problem. It reminds me of potty training a puppy. She'll go hide in the corner. It's actually kinda cute!

I've tried stickers, snacks, princess panties, rewards... the list goes on and on. We are on day 2 of home lock down.

HELP! Anyone else have tips for potty training the child who doesn't want to do it?

She will be 3 in a couple weeks.

I will have to delete the post when she gets older don't want to have this story out there in cyber world....
