Spring Cleaning Challenge - Toys

Welcome into my son's room.
This is how it looks almost everyday. Um, clutter and too many toys. I won't even show you under the bed. It's a parking garage for all his large cars and trucks.
I know you are expecting a clean room photo.... still waiting on that.

We have moved out the little red table it was too small for him. I have a goal of limited the number of toys to ONLY those that fit in his bins and just a few cars for under the bed.

This is going surprisingly well. Will was such a big boy and donated 3 large trucks to the church nursery on Sunday. He was so proud and they made a big deal out of it.

We are on operation garage sale. The guest room/playroom/junk room would be a candidate for the TV show Hoarders. We are putting all the stuff we are selling in that room. It is full to the brim which is a good sign of our spring cleaning.

I will continue to thin out all areas of the house. Simplifying and downsizing sounds so wonderful right now.

How is your spring cleaning going?

Pregnancy update: I am 18 weeks and all is well. The little peanut is kicking up a storm. My guess is boy. We find out in 4 weeks!

Wine Shelf Above the Fridge??

I've got this awkward space above my fridge that was built to hold wine. Only problem when you put wine up there it causes it to go bad because of the heat off the fridge. Looks nice but not really practical for wine drinkers. I had Josh take down the racks. I tried myself but wow, those suckers were in their good and tight.

I moved some baskets from Madeline's room to try out my new open spot.

What do you think?
Calling you fabulous decorators.... should I paint the baskets black or put something else up all together?
What about having some beadboard cut to fit the back? Then I could paint and distress the beadboard black.

Clean Up, Clean Up... Everybody Everywhere...

Yes, we sing the Barney song to clean up. Remember my kids took my mind and won't give it back!

After browsing lots of great kids rooms from Kelly's show us where you live blog, I've decided I need to unclutter and thin out toys.

I watch all the home declutter shows and have the knowledge but I just haven't wanted to. Too much work and fits from the kids. Not worth it. Until this morning. I have a new found motivation to clean out junk. I am going to tackle my side of the closet, the playroom, and the kids rooms over the summer.

This is my daughters desk area, which has accumulated a lot of um.. junk. I would love to provide her with some good organization since she is now a 7th grader.

This is what I would like to turn it into:

I just need to tell my self. I think I can, I think I can... until I just do it!
