I went to Goodwill...

Some of my home decor bloggy friends frequent Goodwill. Not me, in the past. I don't mind dropping things off to donate but I just haven't been in the store. Honestly, I thought it would be dirty and junky.

Well it was neither. I was SHOCKED to find tons of movies, books, baskets, home decor items. They weren't nasty they were in good condition.

We picked up an unused yoga mat still in the orignial wrapper for $1.25 compared to the $20 average going rate at Target. The little kids each bought a book for 75 cents.

I decided to browse down the kids clothing isle. I saw row after row of designer clothes in great shape. Really I did!

If you have one and haven't been check it out you never know what treasure you will find.

Coming soon.... after Christmas I hope to do a Goodwill furniture transformation.

Now you know. All the stuff you drop off just a size or two larger. I've found childsized new aprons that i used for a cooking part for my child. An incredible satin/tulle bridesmaid dress for my child for dressup for $4 in her size. Baskets, books, even Christmas stuff. The furniture has hope if you have vision and you do. Another great place is the Habitat for Humanity Restore. Bargains, bargains, bargains. Bought some adorable Southern Living style wire baskets for a $1.

I have recently started going to Goodwill too (well for about a year now) and it gets really addicting. Nice stuff for garage sale prices! And what is wonderful is that they are constantly restocking their shelves so it is always new stuff! BTW LOVE your blog! :)

I love Goodwill!! We always manage to find my sons long sleeve nice button up shirts there, several times we have found the 20x western shirts that he loves with tags on them! (40 dollar shirts for 2 or 3 dollars!)

Another one for where we live is called My Sister's Closet and all the proceeds go to the women's shelter...great cause!

Every 3rd Wednesday is half price day at Goodwill by my house. You might check your local store when theirs is!

i use to think that too, that things would be like garbage type items and dirty then i thought well, its people like me dropping off there things and i'm not dirty or have dirty things just items i no longer need to never even opened that could benefit others so give it a try. you should also go to the habitat for humanity stores which have even better deals because most of there items were from suppliers like lowes, home depot etc that donated anything from plumbing supplies to paint, sinks, you name it and its the items that were left over from the projects they did and only used 1/2 of or not all all like nails/screws/silicone sealer/and so much more, at great prices. If you want a good tip to look for before you buy from a place like goodwill or thrift stores then go inside those places and ask them or look in the spare rooms near the rest rooms for an on location washing machine and dryer because if you see those you know they wash items as they arrive to know they are somewhat cleaned until you are able to clean them yourself at home. If not i am hesitant about buying some used clothes because you can pass on things like bed bugs etc from bed lines bedspreads etc.Our good will and each one is differant depending on its managers choice) sells new themed furniture or decor like Bears which I love for the lodge theme for decor.Although our goodwill I feel has there clothing items priced way too high, even higher than the dollar general store across the street then add sales tax as well to make the item even higher.Yet the goodwills in 2 towns around us which are bigger towns bigger stores sell there items very low cost, so its all in what kind of deal your able to find.

I’m glad you braved it! Sounds like you found some goodies. I picked up the cutest little white dress baby girl dress from Janie and Jack at GW a few weeks back. It was $1.00!!! I just couldn’t help myself. Hopefully I’ll be blessed with a little one…..some day. You really can find some great kids clothes and adult clothes as well. I always hit up the basket aisle too. No since in paying full price for one when you can buy a perfectly good one on the cheap.
Let me know if you ever want to do lunch and hit up a few GW My friend Jennifer and Jeriann (from the blog party) would probably love to join in as well.

See, there are great things to be found! Though the more people that shop GW and other thrifts, the less goodies I'll be finding because they'll be bought up quickly. :b

Good price on the yoga mat!

I don't go in often and when I do, I never find anything. Everyone on the blogs I visit go to yard sales and GW and find great stuff. I might try the GW here where I just moved. I feel like you do...that it might be dirty etc...but then I think that I drop off great stuff so there has to be great stuff there.
